Biography
Brandon Stewart is an active performer and teacher of the horn. He currently serves as 3rd Horn with the Abilene Philharmonic and 2nd Horn with the San Angelo Symphony. He was previously Co-Principal Horn of the Midland-Odessa Symphony and performed with the West Texas Winds. He also performed with the Lubbock Symphony and the Las Colinas Symphony. When he is not performing Brandon is busy teaching. He is Adjunct Professor of Horn at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, OK, and at Austin College in Sherman, TX. He also maintains a large private studio in McKinney, TX.
Brandon earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from The University of Alabama, his Master of Music degree from Texas Tech University, and he is currently a DMA candidate at The University of North Texas. He studied primarily with Charles “Skip” Snead, Christopher Smith, and Dr. William Scharnberg. While at UNT he served as co-editor on a critical edition of Monteverdi’s Vespers which has since been published by Bärenreiter.
Brandon currently lives in the Denton, TX area with his wife Melanie, an elementary music teacher, and their 2-year old daughter Ella. Brandon and Melanie are expecting a little boy in January 2015.
